Tenerowicz steps on the bag to end the game and start the celebration |
These guys wasted no time in putting away any hopes the Lookouts or Generals may have fostered coming into the last series before the All Star break. The Biscuits attack was quick and precise, leaving little doubts about the outcome.
The on-field celebration was muted, though the clubhouse enjoyed another beer and champagne soaking. Perhaps because there is much work left to do for the Biscuits, preparing for the playoffs and the elusive league flag.
Gonfalon hopes aside, these Biscuits now have long weeks of grinding ahead. The games aren't meaningless but there is perhaps less at stake with a playoff ticket already in hand. It will fall to the coaching staff to keep the players focused moving forward. Which seems to be something the coaching staff is really good at.
This club has been an aberration since day one, differing in so many ways from most every other team we have seen suit up in Biscuits raiment over the years.

They win on the road too.
They hit lefties.
They hit right handers too.
They run, which we are used to seeing, but they don't get caught as often.
They pitch an opener.
They don't really need one, having a full rotation instead of the short staff of recent seasons.
The bullpen rarely makes that horrible sucking sound we are so familiar with.
The catchers keep the ball from rolling to the backstop with regularity.

Every relief pitcher has seen good outings at home, its like someone forgot to send us a bum this year!
They steal home.
They turn triple plays.
They win ball games. Lots of them.

FRONT OFFICE WINS TOO
I can't say enough about the new front office, between the giveaways and the theme nights, the careful stewarding of the clubs reputation and navigating the diverse patrons, this crew has my approval.
F'rExample... They put hats on sale, 20% off, just for one day. For no reason at all! Never would have seen that in the past, unless it was the last day of the year to clear out stock. While I don't always love each and every single thing this group do, I am super happy that they will do something.
Tip of the cap to Lou, Parney and his crew, who all deserve credit for their fine efforts. Huzzah!
